August 2008

Dear Friends,

As we contemplate the sunflowers ablaze in the August glory of our gardens here at Terra Flora, we recognize the wisdom of Mary Oliver’s poem, quoted above. Indeed, all flowers carry qualities of healing more precious than gold. We invite you to read our newest reports and insights shared with us by practitioners of flower essence therapy from around the world: Spain, Argentina, Greece, Brazil, Canada, Holland, and the United States, including a review of a book by an Asian practitioner.

May the healing light of the flowers continue to inspire you!

A Sacred Tribute to Mariposa Lily:
The circle in my soul connecting the Blessed Mother,
Mother Earth and Mariposa Lily
Flower essences have deep archetypal potency – stimulating layers of healing that continue to impact the life biography and cannot be summarized as a single case. These various levels of soul identity are outlined in the MetaFlora approach to flower essence therapy. In this essay, Elly van Ekelenburg of Venray, Holland, explores how the archetypal healing qualities of Mariposa Lily have addressed issues involving her family of origin, her own bodily healing, her vocation as a healer and finally, a deeper understanding of her spiritual identity.

Flower Essence Portraits and Plant Studies

The Healing Gesture of Fairy Lantern
We invite you to read about Fairy Lantern as written by Richard Katz: “...we see in the growth habit of the plant itself an expression of the soul qualities addressed by the flower essence. The delicate sensitivity of the blossom is kept in a semi-closed protected space. The blossom never fully opens, never fully raises itself up to the light, never fully matures. ...”

Spreading Phlox vs Heather –
Affinity vs emotional co-dependency

FES-certified practitioner Rosana Souto, Brazil, writes “Spreading Phlox is one of the research essences of the Flower Essence Society that is experiencing growing popularity in Brazil. Due to the most varied circumstances in which its effects could be noticed in different people’s lives, it has come to be known and sought as the soul mate flower essence or the affinity flower essence for relationships in general.”

A New Understanding of Rock Water Flower Essence:
Reviving the Flow of Energy
Read insights written by FES-certified practitioner Barbara Schuster, Ottawa, Canada, on the transformative potential of Rock Water: “If we now consider that spiritually the world is created from thought, as physically it arises from water, we can understand that Rock Water can prepare the way to let the spiritual activity of thinking unfold in the human being.”

Recently, I discovered a report listed in the database of the US National Institute of Health; it claimed that the flower remedies failed to demonstrate any effects beyond a placebo response. I am shocked by the result and I wondered if there are any factors that caused the result to be biased against flower remedies? Read more here.
