You may download the registration form from this website, or contact the Flower Essence Society for a copy by mail. Enrollment for the course is limited to approximately 30 students and early registration is advised. Registration should be made directly with the Flower Essence Society. Please make your own travel and accommodation arrangements (see below). Contact the Flower Essence Society with any questions about course content, schedule, the certification program, or any other policies. The questionnaire on the back of the form is an essential part of the registration. Without the questionnaire, your application will not be processed. Transportation to class site: due to the zoning restrictions which apply to Terra Flora – as well as ecological considerations – a pre-condition for attending the 2007 FES Professional Course is that all attendees must agree to carpool to Terra Flora from the Northern Queen Inn (regardless of where they are lodging).
AccommodationsWe suggest you stay at the Northern Queen Inn, a charming hotel in Nevada City, where FES will reserve a block of rooms. If you choose to lodge elsewhere, please keep in mind that carpooling for Terra Flora leaves promptly each day only from the Northern Queen. Room rates as of January, 2006 are the following; rates may be subject to change:
If you plan to stay elsewhere, please book early, as Nevada City is a popular tourist destination in the summer. FES reserved rooms at the Northern Queen Inn will be released one month before the class. For a listing of other accommodations, please visit the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce website. MealsTuition includes catered lunches that will feature nutritious, organic meals with enough variety to suit most diets. However, if you have highly specialized dietary needs, we recommend you bring any additional food or refreshments with you for each day. The Northern Queen Inn has a restaurant which serves breakfast daily ($5-$10) and dinner Thursday through Sunday ($20 - $30). In addition, there are many fine restaurants in nearby Nevada City. Cabins have efficiency kitchens and chalets have fully-equipped kitchens, so you can prepare your own meals. For further information, please contact the Northern Queen Inn at 800-226-3090 or visit www.northernqueeninn.com. Please note that FES does not coordinate accommodations – these are chosen and arranged by each participant. Any questions you have, including the possibility of sharing accommodations with another classroom participant should be directed to Northern Queen Inn or any other motel or hotel of your choice.
TransportationThe nearest airport is Sacramento Metropolitan Airport (SMF), which is about a 1½ hour drive from Nevada City. Shuttle service to and from the airport can be arranged with SuperShuttle 800-258-3826 or www.supershuttle.com if you do not rent a car. Transportation between Nevada City and Terra Flora will require carpooling. Carpools will meet at and return to the Northern Queen Inn. Due to zoning restrictions for Terra Flora, this is an absolute requirement for attending the class. Details regarding the logistics of carpooling will be sent to you in an information packet once your registration has been completed. Those participating in the Monday field trip will also be carpooling to a site in the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains. Schedule, arrival and departureClasses are held primarily in the daytime. Evenings are typically free for dinner, relaxation and assimilation of the class presentations. One evening program may be offered, depending on the needs and social interests of the class. Tea breaks and a catered lunch are provided on site at Terra Flora. We will depart on the field trip day at 7:30 am and finish between 4 and 5 pm. You should plan to arrive in Nevada City—if possible—in time to register and meet at Terra Flora at 6:30 PM, Thursday evening, July 12th— 6:30 – 7:00 PM: registration 7:00 – 9:00 PM: opening introductory session and refreshments at Terra Cora For departures, we request that you do not plan to leave the class or field trip early (before 5 pm). For those of you traveling some distance, you will do best to plan on staying that night (Sunday or Monday) and leaving the following morning. You may also wish to extend your stay and enjoy the many scenic attractions in the area.
